Sam Houston State went down to a dominant Nevada Wolf Park on Monday Night 78-60, and dropped their first game of the year. The now 6-1 Bearkats have been on a streak to start the year having beaten two Power 6 teams on the road, Oklahoma and Utah. Cam Huefner could only manage 4 points in his nine minutes, all from the charity stripe, plus two rebounds. Cam had his work cut out for him with the defensive assignment against the Wolf Paks 7 foot center. Nevada are down to only 8 scholarship players due to injuries, including 6’6 Melbourne Junior Daniel Foster, who remains out with an ankle injury.
Seattle also lost their first game to cross town rival Washington 77-66, to fall to 5-1 for the year. The Huskies ran a right 8 man rotation and delivered some amazing above the rim highlights. Kobe Williamson had 2 rebounds but no points.
In San Antonio UTSA were victorious over their local rivals Incarnate Word. Lachlan Bofinger didn’t score in only three minutes off the bench for UTSA and Ben Griscti started but had no points and only 2 rebounds for Incarnate Word, in a quiet night for both Aussies.
